Donate / Support

Every can, dollar, and hour of volunteer time helps a neighbor in Katy eat. Here are the most impactful ways to support local food-assistance organizations.

Most-needed items right now

Pantries across the Katy area consistently run low on these essentials. Donating even one bag makes a direct difference.

  • Peanut butter (plastic jars)
  • Canned tuna and chicken
  • Canned beans (low sodium)
  • Dry rice and pasta (1–2 lb bags)
  • Canned vegetables (low sodium)
  • Canned fruit in juice (not syrup)
  • Low-sugar cereal and oatmeal
  • Shelf-stable milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • Cooking oil (small bottles)
  • Diapers, sizes 4, 5, and 6
  • Baby formula and baby food
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Toothpaste, toothbrushes, and soap
  • Laundry detergent and dish soap
  • Reusable grocery bags

Please donate only sealed, unexpired items. Glass containers are discouraged. Each pantry has its own drop-off hours — check the directory listing before you go.

Donate food

Local pantries most need: peanut butter, canned tuna, rice, dried beans, macaroni and cheese, pasta, canned vegetables, canned fruit, cereal, and baby formula.

Donate money

A $1 cash donation typically provides 3 meals through the Houston Food Bank network, because food banks buy in bulk at steep discounts. Cash goes further than groceries.

Volunteer your time

Pantries rely on volunteers to sort food, run car lines, drive deliveries, and staff events. Most take first-time volunteers on short notice—no experience required.

Host a food drive

Churches, schools, offices, and neighborhoods can host a drive. Katy Christian Ministries provides free printable resources, collection barrels, and guidance on the highest-impact items.
